La Regenta es la primera novela de Leopoldo Alas (Clarín), publicada en dos tomos en 1884 y 1885. En palabras de su autor, (fue escrita como artículos sueltos) que (según iba escribiendo iba mandando) al editor. Gran parte de la crítica la ha considerado la obra cumbre de Clarín y de la novela española del siglo XIX, y uno de los máximos exponentes del naturalismo y del realismo progresista.
